The Source of so many cancers?

A new discovery found that lightning storms release a blast of gamma radiation.

Gamma rays are highly energized forms of electromagnetic radiation capable of piercing through 2 feet of concrete. These are the most deadly in the EM spectrum. And they might be blasting through you and your Canada Dry at 30,000 feet. Whole Crap.

Could this be the missing element that seems to be increasing cancer rates? I mean so many people seem to be contracting (or I suppose developing is the better term) cancer that a source like heterocyclic amines or aluminium foil needs to be the culprit. But gamma radiation is way more high energy physics.
